Conroy'sFlowersTorrance-Crysanthemum

**Chrysanthemum**, often referred to as "mums," is a classic fall flower celebrated for its vibrant blooms and deep cultural significance, especially in Asian cultures. Its name is derived from the Greek words "chrysos" (gold) and "anthemon" (flower).

**Description:**
Chrysanthemums are perennial plants that range from small border varieties to tall cutting flowers. They offer a wide spectrum of colors, including white, yellow, gold, pink, orange, and red. Their blooms can be daisy-like or more intricate with spooned, quilled, or tufted petals.

**Symbolism:**
Chrysanthemum symbolizes longevity, rebirth, and happiness. In Japan, it is celebrated as a symbol of the Emperor and the nation, and "Chrysanthemum Day" (Kiku no Sekku) is one of the country's ancient festivals.

**Care:**
Mums thrive in full sun and well-draining soil. While they're drought-tolerant, consistent moisture ensures optimal blooming. It's essential to pinch back the growth in the early summer to encourage bushier plants and more blooms in the fall.

**Uses:**
Beyond their ornamental value in gardens and floral arrangements, some chrysanthemum varieties are used to make herbal teas.
